Your Question:

As BC Building Code requirements evolve, how would you design a system using Crosslam CLT to create high-performance and sustainable buildings of tomorrow?

The Background:
As building code requirements in BC have evolved to accommodate higher standards of technical performance and a lower carbon-footprint, the opportunity for long-life, high-quality mass timber buildings is significant. Cross Laminated Timber, or CLT, is the green choice for schools, health care facilities, public buildings, commercial buildings and multi-family housing because of its cross-layered construction, reduced carbon footprint and ready-to-assemble system. CrossLam by Structurlam is a state-of-the-art solid cross laminated timber panel that is an ideal structural solution for floor, wall and roof systems.

The Challenge We’re Facing:
Taking into consideration the evolution of building code requirements to higher standards of technical performance and lower carbon-footprint effects, we need to encourage and embrace long-life, high-quality mass timber solutions.

What We Need From You:
We’re looking for your ideas to create an application using Crosslam CLT to create a building for residential, industry, commercial or mixed use.

Judges will take the following criteria into consideration:
Ability to implement into current practices
Positive impact on career opportunities for skilled trades
To adequately illustrate your system design, please include a sketch or graphic of your solution.
